Kandhkot is the biggest city and economically rich Tehsil of District Kashmore in Sindh province of Pakistan. The city is a major hub for the grain and cattle industry. The Anaj Mandi (Grain market) of Kandhkot is said to be the second largest grain market of Asia having trading in rice and wheat Kandhkot has its own gas and oil fields. Kashmore lies to its east, Tangwani to its north, Shikarpur to the west and the Indus River to the south, which links it with Ghotki District. Many social organizations are based in Kandhkot, such as the Education Development Organization, Human Resource Development Initiative and Kainnat Welfare Association. There are many projects that are being run in Kandhkot such as Sindh Development Social Services Program (SDSSP), National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO, PPHI and Centre for Peace and Justice Pakistan. There are 45 private schools in Kandhkot city. Besides this, a large number of Sindhi speaking Hindus also residing in this District. The Hindus are well versed in Business and having control over the economy of the District. They have the real monopoly over Muslims in terms of business and trade . That is why the landlords and feudal have engaged the Hindus to run their business and trading. Because the Hindus of this city are very rich and are trusted and reliable to run the business. People wear Shalwar Kameez and Sindhi Cap. The Common Language is spoken in Kandhkot is Sindhi where as due to large number of Baloch tribes and migratory from Punjab residing in this city , the Second language is Balochi and Brohi .The Occupation: The people of Kandhkot are mainly associated with agriculture as 65 % of the total Population lives in the villages. How ever a large Number of the residents have been serving in the various Government Departments such as Education, Health, Agriculture, Forest, Hesco wapda and other Local Government Jobs. Besides these a large number of people work in rice mills as Labor when there is no harvesting or cultivating season. The people of Kandhkot are very Skilled Persons. They make earthen vessels and women are engaged in making Caps and other wearable . The other main source of employment is Tailoring Business. A great number of the people are also engaged in tailoring and earning their livelihood. Besides this , a large number of youth has been working in private schools . The private schools are the only alternatives for the educated youth that is why each year , a sufficient number of students after passing intermediate or Graduation enters in the teaching field as there are no other resource available for the youth.
